Homecoming Tailgate Saturday, October 20
Theta Chi will continue its yearly tradition of having the best damn tailgate in College Park! Before you see Chris Turner and resurgent Maryland Terrapins take on surprising #19 Virginia at 8PM, stop by the Theta Chi tailgate to see some old friends. The tailgate will take place on “the hill” between the traffic circle at Presidents Drive and Ludwig Field (soccer field).  This is the grassy area closest to Byrd Stadium in Lot 1, across from Riggs Alumni Center.  This is the same place we have tailgated for the past few years. The undergrads will be supplying the food and a DJ. This year’s event is BYOB.

Party starts at 2PM and lasts until game time at 8PM. If you need a ride or a place to park, the undergrads have provided us with a shuttle leaving from the temporary Theta Chi house (the old SAM or TEP house). We will see you at the tailgate!

Theta Chi Annual Golf Tournament Friday, October 19
Well folks, it’s once again time for the annual Theta Chi Homecoming Golf Tournament.  Widely referred to as the 5th Major of the year, this year’s Tournament has mega star quality. And boy will it be entertaining!  The day will start with Steve “Slab” Broadman hitting the ceremonial first slice off the 1st tee.  Somewhere in the middle of the pack you’ll find Bill “Slo” Van Dyke, Jim “Hack” Hodges and Bart Teems, our grandest alumni of the day, pain-killing their way to the 18th green hoping to nudge by par.  The day should peak with the team of Tom “Toungy” Morris, Tim “Magoo” Magee, Kevin “KP” Powderly and Chris “Nut” Grant capturing 1st prize for the second time in three years.  They’re on course for a dynasty rivaled only by the modern day Patriots and the Yankees of Murderer’s Row.

At the conclusion of the tournament, we’ll head to Mulligan’s Grill in the Clubhouse to pound beers like the good old days.  We’ll tell stories of great times past and boast of the good times yet to come for us and the future brothers who will grace the halls of our soon to be renovated Alpha Psi Chapter House.

In between you’ll find plenty of hacks, lots of beers and plenty of VIPs including many past Presidents, both Undergrad and Alumni.  Look for them, shake their hand, look into their eyes and make sure they’re back involved in this most important time in our chapter’s history.  You’ve got Bill Van Dyke, Jim Hodges, Jerry Guido, Paul “Snidely” Richardson, Tom Morris, Mark “Scrappy” Paxton, Kevin Brown, Steve Broadman, Rob “Ganja” Gibbs.  VIPs like Doug Lunenfeld, JP McLaughlin, Bart Teems. It’s a lineup of veritable all stars from top to bottom.  I'm missing a few others but you can refer to the foursomes listed in the attachment ( here ). These guys know how to extend the helping hand.  They’ve done if before.  They’ve been doing it for years.  They’re doing it now.  And they’ll do it until they die.  They’re Theta Chi’s for Life.  Are you?

Fraternally,
Brad Coltun
