  Tragic Accident

  from Sean Bailey, Alumni President

Brothers,

This past Friday night, an undergraduate chapter member was killed as a result of a car accident on Rte 193 in College Park.  Two brothers were returning home late Friday night/early Saturday morning when their car was hit by a drunk driver.  Bill Rossi sustained minor injuries and was released Saturday to his family.  He is home in NJ recovering from the accident.  Matt Watson was killed as a result of the accident.  The accident is still being investigated by the police, and I will share more information as I know it.  The Diamondback is providing details as well.

Matt was a great friend and touched the lives of many in College Park.  He leaves behind two parents and four siblings – Matt was the oldest.  The chapter met Sunday night to console one another and discuss ways to remember Matt.  Several ideas were shared, and over time we will determine an appropriate way to memorialize Matt.  A service will be held this Friday afternoon in his home town of Ellicott City, and the University is providing bus transportation for students.

Bill was a great leader in the chapter most recently serving as chapter treasurer.  Many in the Alumni Corporation know Bill for his stubbornness and strong work ethic.  We all wish him a speedy recovery.

I know many of you will want to help out Bill, Matt’s family, and the chapter any way you can.  As we determine the best way to accomplish that, we will share those details with you.

Best wishes to all,
Sean
